Research focused on the temporal dynamics of phosphorus transformation and exchange, between the soil and water column amongst the transient soils of riparian areas. The impacts of long-term nutrient enrichment, changing water column P concentrations and sedimentation on the effectiveness of these systems to retain phosphorus are being investigated.
